The American Sanctuary Association groups.io forum replaces the old asasanctuaries Yahoo group. Its purpose is to promote the sharing of information and discussion of issues of importance to sanctuaries providing lifetime care for animals and for individuals involved in the rescue and placement of animals.

You can choose to receive new messages in email, just get digests at the end of the day, or visit the forum website, where you can read and post messages online. Once you’re signed up, you can also post by emailing ASA-Sanctuaries@groups.io. Don’t get worried about having your email overwhelmed! We rarely get more than 50 messages a month.

We have only a few simple guidelines:

1. Your sanctuary may have as many participants as you like. This isn't just for the executive directors; our animal care, facilities, education, and admin people may want to talk to each other, too!

2. Please make sure that all subject lines are descriptive! If you're looking for help placing an animal, use a subject like "Help With Placing Injured Raven" instead of something generic like "bird."

3. We're all professionals here. Be polite. Personal attacks will be deleted.

4. This forum supports hashtags, which will make message threads even easier to find. Please add them to the end of your subject lines! A few examples:
   Looking for animal care staff #hiring
   Need home for two habituated raccoons #placement
   How much space does a gorilla need? #habitats
